Happy Mother’s Day

A day late I know, but after losing this long lost film for over eight years, I *finally* got a copy back this afternoon of this much loved photo of me and my wonderful Gran, which was taken on her 90th birthday, a few months before she passed away. Happy Mother’s Day Gran xxx

Coming Soon | Mexico on Film

My films from my Mexico travels are finally back from my favourite lab over in Hollywood! It feels a little like Christmas at my house this evening, excitedly downloading all of the negatives. I’ll write a full post soon, but here’s a sneak preview of what’s to come. For the photographers amongst you: all shot on film with a mixture of 35mm and 120 Medium Format, on Fuji Pro 400H.

Press Coverage | Featured in Reverie Magazine

I’m honoured to be featured by Reverie Magazine today. If you’ve yet to check out the beautiful new magazine that is Reverie, make sure to head on over to see a whole lot of prettiness, dreamy photographs and fresh, inspirational ideas from across the globe. Written by the lovely Kate and Mary, it really is a must-read.

To see the full post, head on over to Reverie, but here is an excerpt from the post:

” Looking for a wedding photographer whose vast experience in the craft includes a university degree in photography, twice runner-up as “Young Photographer of the Year” by The Times, and whose client list includes not only wedding clients but also The Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian and Grazia Magazine? – well then you have to check out Catherine Mead of Photography by Catherine! Not only do her accolades speak volumes about her photographic skill, but she is also a super warm and sweet person whom you would feel incredibly comfortable to have with you on the most important day of your life!

Catherine describes her style of photography as a “blend of documentary photography, capturing all the fun, excitement and the moments that no one wants to forget, together with gorgeous details and timeless portraits of a couple very much in love, bringing together a stylish, unique account of their wedding.”

Little fact about Catherine: prior to university, Catherine studied photography after school and relentlessly pressed her school to start a course in photography. For her, “photography is my greatest love, and it’s all I’ve ever been passionate about.”

With her keen eye for color and detail, Catherine has also photographed for London Fashion Week, No 10 Downing Street, singer Bonnie Tyler as well as Madame Tussauds, for whom she flies around the world taking portraits of celebrities, which they then use to create their life-like wax figures! How fun is that?!

As for her wedding work, Catherine enjoys both high drama and low drama – everything from a 400-guest Egyptian wedding to an intimate wedding in the Cotswolds where only she and the venue manager were witnesses.

While she is based in the UK, Catherine also travels around the world for destination weddings.

Catherine has been “Brides’ Choice Award Runner-Up” in 2009 and 2011 by You & Your Wedding, published in Brides Magazine, and also a recommended vendor with Style Me Pretty.

While her photography clearly speaks for itself, Catherine is also just a down-to-earth, easy-going person whom you can entrust with your big day with absolutely no worries. To learn more about Catherine, visit her website or her Facebook page. You can also follow her updates on Twitter. ”

Phew, it’s a long feature! To read the full post, please head on over to Reverie Magazine!
